This is the only dining room I have been where the lady owner gave a young military man a hard time because he wanted dessert and he had not finished his order. She went over to him and asked him his mother’s phone number. She then made a long distance call to New Brunswick and told his mother he had not finished his dinner - could he have dessert? I found this humorous and touching at the same time..As usual, the food was excellent. The fish is lightly battered and cooked to perfection. The fries are always hot and fresh. My favourite fish and chip shop.

Haddock was good. Not battered too heavily. Fries are always good. Battered mushrooms have changed. Very large, cut in half then dipped. Liked the old button style mushrooms better.

I realized some years later that I didn't leave a review of Sir Halibut, just a photo of a very delicious dinner.Sir Halibut is a fantastic spot for fish n' chips with a down home feel to everything. The love and care that goes into each dish, as well as the business, is rivaled only by one's own Newfoundland Grandmother if one is fortunate enough to have one in the family. Decor and trinkets that were available for purchase were all Newfoundland-related, giving Sir Halibut a charm and heartwarming feeling, and was enough to alleviate homesickness for me. Fried fish, fries, dressing and gravy, and a pineapple crush make for a true Newfie dinner experience. When I'm in the area, I'll definitely be going again.

Just when i thought the ultimate fish and chips was in Burlington we discover this gem in Angus. My husband and I were just passing thru . We ordered halibut and chips and halibut on a bun. Now this we both agreed Sir Halibut was #1. The batter was almost like a fluffy tempura not greasy incredibly fresh and so delicious. Its now our go to place. Looking so forward to our next visit i so want to try their califlower bites and lobster. Yummmy!👌😄
